BIRDS and MARINE MAMMALS
I have been obsessed with birds since my early teens growing up in the UK. Seabirds, shorebirds, gulls and swifts have always held a special attraction and I am sure this bias will be evident through the pages of this site. In addition to writing and reviewing for several leading birding publications, my current ornithological activities including being chair of the New York State Avian Records Committee (NYSARC).
SCIENCE
A molecular
biologist by trade, I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology
at New York University School of Medicine and member of the NYU Cancer Institute.
lead a research group studying the control of gene expression and its role in
human cancer. We focus on two important human viruses, Kaposi's sarcoma-associated
herpesvirus (KSHV) and herpes simplex virus (HSV). To learn more, please visit
