Wood Storks in Clyde, New York
- The 2002 Invasion...........
The late summer of 2001 saw a minor
invasion of Wood Storks into Ontario and northeast, incuding New York State.
Between 15 and 30 Wood Storks were reported from various small farm ponds
in and around the Town of Clyde, not far from Montezuma NWR. On Saturday
1st September, Tony Lauro, Andy Guthrie and I drove up to see them. Here
are some images of a flock of 14 roosting by a small wooded pond.

We are indebted to the landowner
for allowing birders to park in the farm and walk down to the pond. Many
thanks also to Tony for doing the bulk of the driving and to Andy for doing
the rest!
